Response Handling

Each ShowRolescall returns an XML response document.

Calls can fail for a number of reasons. If a call fails the document is:

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<response>
	<status>FAIL</status>
	<errcode>nnn</errcode>
	<msg>msg</msg>
	<field>field</field>
</response>

Failure can occur if authentication fails.

If the call succeeds the document contains the requested information. It looks something like this example. Each role is represented by a <role/> item. The <name/> of the role is shown along with counts of <activeusers/> assigned to that role, <inactiveusers/> and total <users/>. Inactive users are users formerly associated with the partner group, but have been deprovisioned.

When users have no role assigned, they are included in the item with the of '-none-'.

<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
<response>
  <status>OK</status>
  <roles>
    <role>
      <name>-none-</name>
      <activeusers>145</activeusers>
      <inactiveusers>17</inactiveusers>
      <users>162</users>
    </role>
    <role>
      <name>Role 2</name>
      <activeusers>1</activeusers>
      <inactiveusers>0</inactiveusers>
      <users>1</users>
    </role>
    <role>
      <name>Role-3</name>
      <activeusers>0</activeusers>
      <inactiveusers>1</inactiveusers>
      <users>1</users>
    </role>
    <role>
      <name>Role1</name>
      <activeusers>1</activeusers>
      <inactiveusers>2</inactiveusers>
      <users>3</users>
    </role>
  </roles>
</response>
